My cousin said to me, “You need to make suits for us big girls; we want to look cute too!” The rest was HERSTORY! Gyv Me Body was born. I released the collection on my 44th birthday in June 2014.

Designed with every body type in mind, the new line showcased a stunning array of swimwear from sleek one-pieces to vibrant bikinis. Embracing diversity, the collection featured models of all shapes, sizes, and skin tones, making a powerful statement on the runway. The designer emphasized comfort and style, utilizing stretchy, high-quality fabrics that move with the wearer's body.

The body positivity movement is a game-changer, pushing designers to create inclusive collections that celebrate all shapes and sizes. The designer truly lived up to their name by giving us an array of body sizes, shapes, and skin tones. The models took to the runway in all white swim suits, many complimented by flowy lace coverups that were adorned with purple, peach and white floral designs.

GYV Me Body is for the Jetsetter who prefers a little dazzle-dazzle for their swimwear. The size-inclusive brand embraces colors, patterns, and textures into its designs to the extent that you’ll question whether or not you’re wearing a swimsuit.

Finally, Miami Swim Week powered by Art Hearts Fashion gave the limelight to designers live Nyki Allen, whose collection Gyv Me Body was born with the understanding that real women have curves and caters to the reality of all women no matter their shape or size.

My biggest battle with the Gyv Me Body brand is that I cater to most sizes. In my industry, they do not want to see full figured models on the runway. If they allow you to showcase on plus sized models, they will limit the number of models or how they look or even what they wear. Then there’s another group in the fashion industry that only wants you to show plus sizes. My brand is all inclusive. I will not separate the models and I want them all on my runway and catalog. It’s a battle, but I will not stop the fight.
